Lake Vänern Archipelago and Mount Kinnekulle

Thanks to the uniquely diverse natural settings and its rich cultural heritage,
Vänerskärgården and Kinnekulle have been named a biosphere by the UN organ
Unesco. This means that together with our neighbouring municipalities Götene
and Mariestad, we have a model area where nature and culture are preserved.
Together with the trade and industry we develop in a long-term, sustainable
manner. We are more than a bit proud!

The purpose of A biosphere

  • A biosphere has three purposes: to develop the community in a long-term, sustainable manner, to preserve biological and cultural diversity, the ecosystem and the countryside, and to support model projects, research and to safeguard the environment. www.vanerkulle.selänk till annan webbplats, öppnas i nytt fönster
