Cultural attractions
The artists who make up Lidangruppen
present a broad range of high-quality work, and hold open studios each season. Lidköping art gallery holds a number of exhibitions each year, featuring known artists and promising newcomers. Our local artists also help make the city even more attractive.
Vänermuseet
(Väner Museum) is located in Lidköping and offers a range of exhibition activities, teaching and research that naturally centre on the natural and cultural settings of the Väner region. Stadsbiblioteket (the city library) is both a cultural meeting place and a modern information centre. Rörstrand Museum
is also well frequented. This is the place to learn about the history of porcelain and see modern collections.
Läckö Slott
took its current form in the 17th century under the direction of Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie. The restored interior and furniture from that period can be viewed during summer exhibitions. A variety of other events are also held here. The existing castle gardens are the work of garden designer Simon Irvine. Local theatre groups such as Esplanadteatern have a wide repertoire and give outdoor performances in summer. Stadsbiblioteket (the city library) has around 360,000 visitors a year.
