Diverse industry

The ExpansionCenter is a network for the development of trade and industry in the region. It actively and successfully strives to create opportunities for growth and new enterprise in Lidköping. The international exchange of skills and experience means a great deal; the region is constantly involved in international projects, and Lidköping has its own coordinator for EU issues, among others. Industry also includes agriculture, shipping and fishing. 

Lidköping is surrounded by some of Sweden's most fertile agricultural land, and Lake Vänern is home to the country's largest commercial freshwater fishing industry. The port is visited annually by around 300 vessels. One of our largest shipping lines has Lidköping as its home port. Close collaboration between the municipality and industry is a distinctive feature of Lidköping. Our shared vision is to promote greater competitiveness and growth, and to strive to become an effective region within Europe.

Rörstrand is a well-known Lidköping company. The region has strong traditions and skills in ceramics, as well as many small companies in this sector. One of Lidköping's biggest employers is F7 Såtenäs, a training centre for the JAS 39 Gripen jet. Lidköping Machine Tools is an international market leader. The company manufactures high-precision grinding machines. A total of 34 different species of fish live in Lake Vänern, making it Sweden's most richly populated lake. Whitefish, vendace, burbot, pike-perch, salmon and pike are all fished here commercially.
